Madurodam's first dark ride
With De Windjager, Madurodam opened its very first dark ride in summer 2025. It is the biggest investment in the park's history. The attraction is an important step in Madurodam's further development as an attraction park. Embera was responsible for the project management of this technically challenging leisure project.

From ambition to a clear foundation
A project of this scale calls for clear agreements from the very start. In the initiation phase, Embera guided the preparation of a complete starter package. It consisted of a Program of Requirements, a sketch design, an accompanying schedule and a budget. This provided a clear foundation for further choices and execution.
In this initiation phase, Madurodam's ambitions were translated into a feasible project. By setting clear frameworks from the start, we created overview in a project where many disciplines and interests come together.
Coordination between design and realisation
The leisure sector calls for a different approach than traditional real estate. Creativity is essential for a great guest experience, but technology, safety and reliability are at least as important. Embera was the connecting link between design and execution. We continuously tested design choices against buildability, schedule, maintenance, risks and budget.

Firm control during execution
During construction, we monitored schedule, quality and budget in a project that was constantly in motion. By keeping the overview, asking critical questions and safeguarding the coherence between all components, the project stayed manageable – even as designs and technology were worked out further.
Embera ensured clear decision-making and insight into the consequences of changes. Efficient collaboration between designers, engineers, contractors and installers made it possible to adjust course in time, without compromising the intended quality and experience.

Where technology and experience meet
De Windjager is not only a new crowd-puller for Madurodam, it also shows what integrated project management can mean in complex leisure projects. With this project, Embera underlines its experience in leisure projects that place high demands on collaboration, coordination and quality – from the first sketch through to completion.
