Codrico - Wandblok and Veldblok

The Rijnhaven is on the verge of a major transformation. By relocating the industrial activities of the existing Codrico factory, the site on Katendrecht is being cleared for redevelopment. With approximately 1,500 rental and owner-occupied homes, 50% of which are in the affordable segment, the Codrico site is being developed for all Rotterdammers. It will be a vibrant place with offices, shops, a hotel, restaurants, and cultural functions at street level.

The total project consists of 4 components that will be built in phases. A 220-meter-tall residential tower designed by SHoP Architects, experts in high-rise construction with extensive experience in New York. A wall building with a mixed-use function that is accessible to every Rotterdammer, designed by Powerhouse Company. The national monument will be transformed into a hotel including public functions, overseen by Office Winhov. In addition, this transformation includes the connected silo building, where homes will be created within the old silos, alongside a publicly accessible hospitality destination in the iconic 'green' cube. Finally, a new volume called the Veldblok will complete the ensemble, designed by Powerhouse Company. Powerhouse Company is overseeing the entire project, ensuring careful attention to overall cohesion.

This unique collection of buildings completes the pedestrian loop along the Rijnhaven quay, finally fulfilling the long-cherished wish for the 'Rondje Rijnhaven' circuit.
